Qualifications for Admission to Membership

Principal qualifications for admission to the Council include, but are not limited to, a minimum of five (5) years of significant estate planning experience; the last two (2) of which have been in the metro Omaha area, background and demonstrated interest in estate planning, good standing and reputation within his or her profession and community, and the attainment of any of the following degrees or certifications:

  • JD
  • CPA
  • LLB
  • LLM (Tax)
  • CFP®
  • CLU®
  • MPA
  • CFA
  • ChFC®
  • CPWA®
  • CAP®
  • CSPC
  • MSFS
  • MST
  • MBA
  • CTFA
  • PhD in some academic area related to taxation and/or estate planning 

In lieu of the above mentioned degrees, applicant can show substantial experience in some estate planning area for at least ten (10) years; the last two (2) of which have been in the metro Omaha area.  

Applicants must be endorsed by two (2) Council members in good standing. Each member’s endorsement must contain specific knowledge of the applicant. 

Membership applications are accepted throughout the year to be reviewed each spring by the Membership Committee who utilizes a set of prescribed guidelines such as, but not limited to, experience, background, education and demonstrated interest in estate planning, as well as good standing and reputation within his or her profession and community, and taking into account the current membership, needs, demographics and mission. Based on recommendations of the Membership Committee, applicants are admitted into membership by the Board of Directors.
